St. Albans School is a day and boarding college preparatory school for boys in grades 4-12 chartered in 1909 by the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation in Washington, DC, and located on the campus of the National Cathedral. Our mission is to prepare boys to develop and use their spiritual, intellectual, artistic, and physical gifts not for themselves alone, but in service to society. The school welcomes boys, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds and faiths into this diverse and caring community that learns, prays, plays, sings, and eats together. Our coordinate program with National Cathedral School for girls enhances opportunities and growth for both schools. St. Albans challenges students to achieve excellence and expects them to embrace responsibility, acting always with honor and care for others.

Academic Program:

Upper School life provides opportunities for students to explore a core curriculum of the humanities, sciences, and the arts. Some of these classes are coed, through the St. Albans–NCS .

We follow a seven-day rotating schedule to bring variety to students’ days and allow them time during the day to pursue labs, dive deeper into the arts, and attend chapel and assemblies. Our schedule consists of six blocks that meet five out of every seven days.
