The Hun School is a dynamic and supportive community that inspires scholarship, student participation, and resilient character. For over 100 years, the school has embraced the mission of Dr. John Gale Hun by focusing maximum attention on students’ individual needs.聽Traditional courses are taught in a very non-traditional way, with students at the center of it all. Humanities courses take place around a Harkness table. STEM classes are聽active and hands on. All courses prioritize skill acquisition and experiential learning. Lessons are dynamic, innovative, personal, and un-prescribed.
Academic Program:
The Upper School Program of Studies provides students with an innovative and individual approach to meeting graduation requirements. Students are required to complete a minimum of 65 credits for graduation; however, 75 credits are recommended as students craft their individual path through our curriculum. Courses are categorized among three distributions, namely STEM, Humanities, and Arts.
At Hun, teachers focus more intently on skill development and student engagement than on simply conferring information. Whether a Hun School student is taking 鈥淚mmigration and Ethnicity in the U.S.鈥 or 鈥淥ceanography,鈥 they will examine the principles of that course while developing Creativity, Cultural Competency, Collaborative Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Ethical Decision Making, Effective Communication, and Leadership Skills.
