Four years later, in 1923, the school had grown to offer a full four-year cooperative education, with more than 600 full-time students and was renamed the Flint Institute of Technology.
The school went through many name changes before settling on Kettering University on January 1st, 1998. The name Kettering honors Charles Kettering (1876-1958), an inventor,聽 industrialist and an early and strong proponent of professional cooperative education.

Domestic & International Eligibility Requirements for Online Courses
The eligibility requirements for admission into an online course at Kettering University will depend on the course and your status as a domestic or international graduate. Below, we鈥檝e outlined the different requirements:
Lean Manufacturing
Lean Manufacturing applicants are required to submit a completed application, two letters of recommendation, with one being from a supervisor, and transcripts from their bachelor鈥檚 degree from a regionally accredited U.S. university or any international equivalent institution.
Engineering Management applicants are required to have a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an approved ABET-accredited engineering or computing (not technology) program or be a Kettering University graduate with a degree other than in management or business.
MBA, Operations Management & Supply Chain Management聽
MBA, Operations Management, and Supply Chain Management applicants must submit official transcripts from their bachelor鈥檚 degree acquired from a regionally accredited U.S. university or any international equivalent institution.
Online graduate certificate applicants must have a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university.
It鈥檚 important to note, that Kettering University has no GMAT or GRE requirement for enrollment into a graduate certificate program or master鈥檚 degree program.
International Student Requirements聽
International students looking to study at Kettering University are required to submit educational documentation to an evaluation service. For instance, this could be WES, which is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). This is the responsibility of the student and at their expense.
International students who were undergraduate students at Kettering University won鈥檛 have to go through the above-mentioned process for their Kettering academic transcripts, but will still need to for any transcripts obtained at other universities.
Any international applicants whose native language isn鈥檛 English and who have not earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree from a U.S. institution are required to undergo an English as a foreign language test or complete level 112 at an approved ELS center.
For example, this test could be the MELAB (offered at the University of Michigan), the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
