About Us

Emory’s National Debate Institute (ENDI) has taught over 5,000 high school students debate skills since 1966

Emory University is one of the top 25 Universities in the United States and the Barkley Forum is one of nation’s most successfully competitive intercollegiate debate teams for the last fifty years.

The two week Policy Debate Institute is their signature offering. In Fundamentals of Debate, Deliberation, and Dialogue, students learn the fundamentals of argumentation, critical inquiry, and public speaking in small groups. In the past, topics have included social media privacy and food access injustice. Additionally, students do not need prior debate experience or to be preparing for competitive high school debate teams.

At the Policy Debate Institute, students spend two weeks developing or honing basic debate skills. The intention is that students will transition to a competitive debate team post-institute. As such, students learn how to prepare for, organize, and deliver various debate topics.

Students have the opportunity to take part in electives and social experiences.
