MasterScholar programs are selective, hands-on academic summer courses built for talented and ambitious high school students. Covering a wide range of subject areas, MasterScholar programs focus on research skill-building, academic writing, and critical thinking — skills that are all crucial for students to demonstrate in the college application process. The programs also offer engaging extracurricular activities, helping students form lifelong connections and build a global network while they experience campus life.
MasterScholar’s program partners include world-renowned institutions such as Barnard College of Columbia University and University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). Other programs are hosted in collaboration with faculty from Princeton University and Duke University. The programs are led directly by these institutions’ faculty members, providing unparalleled academic enrichment experiences for our students.

Barnard MasterScholar Summer Research Program (July 20 – August 9)
The Barnard MasterScholar Program is an interdisciplinary summer research program built for high school students who seek a meaningful, engaging, and rigorous pre-college academic experience. The longstanding relationship between Barnard College and Columbia University offers students a unique learning environment, with the chance to enjoy campus life and academics at both a renowned women’s liberal arts college and an Ivy League university.
Designed to give students a head start on college-level research, the Barnard MasterScholar Program is built around interdisciplinary studies: students choose multiple subject areas spanning STEM, the arts, and the humanities, combining them into an innovative research topic that explores the intersections between these fields. The accompanying coursework features small, seminar-style classes taught by Barnard and Columbia professors, expert guest lecturers, and advising and support from a dedicated staff of teaching assistants.

Princeton Social Science Academy at The Lawrenceville School (July 27 – August 9)
The Princeton Social Science Academy at The Lawrenceville School (PSSA), a two-week summer academic program co-organized by KSE Global Education and faculty from Princeton University, presents a valuable opportunity for high school students to delve deeper into the study of the social sciences. Hosted on the historic campus of The Lawrenceville School, the Academy brings together talented, academically inclined students from around the world to explore subjects ranging from sociology to anthropology, economics, and political science.
The PSSA curriculum has been meticulously designed by Dr. Shamus Rahman Khan, Professor of American Studies at Princeton University, who also leads the instruction of the program alongside other Princeton faculty. Over the course of two weeks, students engage closely with faculty in a variety of formats including lectures, group discussions, practical fieldwork, and the production of social science research papers—all aimed at broadening students’ academic horizons while fostering critical thinking, research skills, and a global perspective. Students also participate in engaging extracurricular activities, helping them build lasting connections and develop a global network of talented, intellectually curious peers.

UCSB MasterScholar Summer Research Program (July 6 – 26)
The UCSB MasterScholar Summer Research Program (offered in collaboration with KSE Global Education) provides an engaging and immersive pre-college academic experience for high school students interested in sustainability, engineering, and environmental science.
Throughout this intensive three-week program, students dive into UCSB’s innovative, student-centered science and engineering curriculum, benefiting from the university’s focus on research and its unique location. After choosing a research field to study, participants learn crucial academic skills, cultivate their critical thinking abilities, and gain research experience through collaborative discussions and hands-on exploration.

North Carolina Math Camp (July 6 – 19 and July 20 – August 2)
The MasterScholar North Carolina Math Camp (NCMC), a two-week summer academic program co-organized by KSE Global and faculty from the Duke University Department of Mathematics, presents a valuable opportunity for high school students to delve deeper into the study of advanced mathematics. As a world-class math camp, recommended by MIT as an alternative to the renowned PRIMES program, NCMC not only offers teaching resources from a top-tier university but also focuses on nurturing students’ independent research and teamwork skills.
The North Carolina Math Camp emphasizes the development of students’ critical thinking abilities through interactive, project-based learning. Professors and teaching assistants from Duke University guide students to approach challenging, complex mathematical problems through a carefully designed curriculum. In addition, every student completes a detailed research paper based on a topic chosen from their courses.
NCMC is offered in two different sessions, designed for students of different skill levels: Session 1 – Survey of Mathematics (July 6 – 19), and Session 2 – Survey of Advanced Mathematics (July 20 – August 2).
